The Alpha Xi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. at the University of Washington will be hosting the annual Miss Black & Gold Scholarship Pageant, Woman of Change. The event will be held April 2nd, 2009 in the HUB Auditorium on the University of Washington campus. The ticket prices are free for college students with ID, $10.00 for the general public.

This is a national event put on by all of the chapters of this organization, located on college campuses big and small through out America. This pageant is not only a celebration of the intelligent and talented college woman, but it is also a demonstration of good character and extraordinary fitness.

Joyce Bruce, Julianna Tesfu, LaTasha Green and Marissa Garrett will be competing for the crown of Miss Black & Gold 2009.

The proceeds from the event go towards scholarships for the top 3 contestants. Scholarships will be awarded in the amounts of $1000, $500, and $250 for the Winner, 1st Runner Up, & 2nd Runner Up (respectively). The newly crowned Ms. Black & Gold will compete in the pageant at the Alpha Phi Alpha Western Regional Convention in Portland, OR.
