Last two weeks: We will be in the LAN for the remaining three days of the quarter--check the calendar for updates. Also, don't forget that there is no class on the 28th of May--it's Memorial Day.

Conferences: Our first set of conferences is coming up next week. What this means is that instead of coming to class next Wednesday (4/18), you will schedule a 20 minute 1 to 1 conference with me during which we will discuss your work on your first longer paper. Conferences will be held Wednesday (the 18th) from 10:30-1:10, and Thursday and Friday from 10:00-12:00. You will sign up for conference times on Monday (the 16) in class--we'll also go over on Monday what you need to do to prepare for your conference.

Welcome to English 111h: Geographies of Hell, Spring quarter 2007. This space is where you will find course updates, reminders, and notices of changes to the calendar. I will try to post reminders here as due dates for assignments approach, but remember that you are ultimately responsible for getting things in on time--my not reminding you of something here does not change the due dates posted on the calendar (my changing the due dates on the calendar here does--but in this case I will also change the calendar. ... If I don't--or something you read here doesn't jive with what's on the calendar, somebody please tell me--I don't like surprises any more than you do!)

Reminder: You need to come to my office (Lewis Annex 202, aka "the doubletall") for an informal office visit sometime before the end of the second week of class (by the 4th of April. This is short (5 min or so) and painless--just so I can speak with you one-to-one, connect your face with your name, etc.--and it counts as part of your participation for the course. For those of you who can't make it to Wednesday office hours, I will also be in my office the first two Mondays of the quarter right after class.

Windows Users: Word 2007 is not backwards compatible-- documents saved in the (default) 2007 format will not open on the CIC lab computers (thanks Microsoft!). Be sure to save files created in Word 2007 as "Word 97-2003 Document" or "RTF" in order to be able to get at your work on campus labs (or on any other campus computer that runs an earlier version of Word).
