English at the University of Washington
Hi. Welcome to Andy's World o' English. This site is more or less the informational hub of my academic goings-on: research, teaching, writing...who knows what else. Beyond the sheer solipsism of having a cyber-presence, I hope these pages will serve as a link between what I do in my darkened little office and what goes on in the world of natural light (or at least what goes on in other darkened little offices). If you are a fellow graduate student or teacher, do poke around and see if there's anything here you can use (or anything you're convinced I desperately need to know). If you're just curious, the same invitation goes to you (but honestly, I'm sure there are billions of more interesting things on the internet to read...but whatever, it's your time).
What's Here: A little bit of quality time with the menu bar will
get you this information, but in a nutshell, here's what's here:
- Curriculum Vitae: Yeah, surprise! It's just an extended resume.
- Research: Basically what I write about and why I write about it. Lots of folks have a hard time reconciling "English" and "Research"— this is where I try to make sense of it.
- Francophonia: I am a total and unrepentant French nerd. Learn all about it here.
- Writing Classes : Information on and materials for classes I've taught at the University of Washington. Feel free to purloin at your pleasure (and own risk!)
- Blog: Sort of an ongoing (if chronically neglected) account of what graduate school is doing to my ability to think straight. Not a very strong sell, I know, but it's really more about what I feel like writing than about what I think anyone may feel like reading. Ah, self-indulgence. . . .
Other Projects: With all the free time that graduate school leaves me, I do occasionally (read: slowly) work on other things (which have nothing at all to do with my scholarly work at the UW). One of those "things" (and I do think this is the best description for the moment) is Ravenna Flamenco.
