Bio: At first, I thought marketing was just advertising; until I became a member of the UW AMA. Through hearing numerous speakers talk about how they approach marketing's very different aspects, I have realized it is much more than that. For this very reason, it has intrigued me to learn more. From social media to branding, take your pick. From creating my own DJ business, to having one of the highest student council positions in the state, I have had my fair share of experiences so far. It has led me to want to accomplish as much as I can no matter what. This is why I want to be one of the most successful entrepreneurs there has been. After I graduate from the Foster School of Business, I plan to return for my MBA. Whether it be starting with a major corporation, or working for myself, business is where I want to be. Capitalism is my forté.
Name: Alixson Bell
Position: Director of Marketing
Year: Senior
Major: Marketing
Bio: Alixson is a senior studying marketing at the Foster School of Business. She has five years' experience in retail and has had the opportunity to use marketing concepts she has learned at Foster in the businesses she has worked for and to create a marketing campaign for AMA that will blow UW students' minds. Alixson always knew she wanted to be involved in a career that required creativity but couldn't quite place her finger on what that would be. She excelled in art classes and creative writing classes. Originally, she applied to the Foster School of Business as a back-up, in case she didn't get into the school of architecture at UW. As she took more business classes, the more she found that she was passionate about business, and specifically, marketing. She grew up in a household that was not business oriented at all, and suddenly everything she was learning seemed exciting and new. Taking marketing 301 was her "aha" moment. Long-term goals include continuing her education to get her master's degree either at UW or in another state such as California, Texas, or Massachusetts to expand her experiences. With her spare time, Alixson likes to decorate her apartment, go on hikes and explore new restaurants.
