ALISS Executive Meeting
Friday, September 29, 2006, 5:30 p.m.
Members Present: Amy Donahue, Sarah Evans, Laura Horne, Teresa McElhiney, Tim Merrick, Tammy Salman, Jen Sullivan
· ALISS Blog/Website: Board discussed if there is a need for both a blog and a website. The blog was originally designed to allow people to communicate anonymously. It is also easier to maintain. However, a website tends to be more stable. Laura will send an email to students regarding their level of interest in a blog and/or website.
· Connective Technology Needs: Group discussed ways for classmates to electronically communicate. Tyan suggested using a wiki. Another option is an all school or all MLIS epost board. Tammy also suggested sending an email to MLIS students to explain the purpose and functions of ALISS. Laura will contact Tyan to discuss this issue further. Sarah will contact Scott Barker to discuss the possibility of an all school epost board.
· Book Sale Plans: Group agreed to schedule the annual Book Sale on February 13-14 in By George. Soliciting for donations will begin on November 27. Jen asked people to think about potential volunteer and publicity coordinators. Amy confirmed that there is approximately $200-300 for book sale supplies.
· Open Meeting Plans: Group agreed to hold an hour long open meeting approximately two weeks before class registration. There will an hour long open house following the meeting for students to discuss course and faculty choices. Sarah will ask Marie when winter time schedules will be available.
· Supporting iYouth and Youth Services: Sarah is organizing a brown bag lunch event with Dr. Lynne McKechnie in November. ALISS agreed to sponsor the event and provide brownies. The funding will come from grant monies.
· Tree Planting Ceremony: Tammy and Laura agreed to attend the tree planting ceremony in honor of Mary Cooper and Susanna Stodden. ALISS will give a monetary gift to the scholarship fund. Amy will cut check from grant monies and work on write up for ALISS email and Silverfish.
· LIS 500 Social: ALISS will sponsor a social following LIS 500 on Tuesday, October 10. There will be free pizza. Tammy and Laura will work on publicity.
· Cross Program Interaction: ALISS has been given two tickets to the Peter Moroville event. Sarah and Amy will use them. Fliers need to be made for the information table. Amy will ask Brandy if ALISS can solicit donations.
· Officer Reports: Laura will check on meeting with SAO. Amy informed group that ALISS has been given $1000 for the year. Amy will work on a final budget. She is also planning to repaper the bulletin boards in the iSalon. Tammy reported that the Silverfish is off to a good start and on track. Tim will contact Lane Hatfield to discuss Alumni Relations.

Week. This could include a panel of MLIS
alumni. Tammy, Teresa, and Jen will work
on planning a Resume Workshop co-sponsored by ALISS and the iSchool
