Greetings AISES members:
I hope you are in good spirits and health, and that this is the beginning o=
f
a fortunate year for your school and community.
I am writing to ask for you help in reaching students who might be
interested in a biology research experience for next summer. The
Organization for Tropical Studies has an undergraduate research program
specifically for Native Americans and Pacific Islanders. I will be th=
e
coordinator for summer 2007. Students will spend 8 weeks in Costa Rica
learning tropical biology, meeting with indigenous communities from Costa
Rica, and doing research projects. All travel and living expenses are
covered. Students receive an additional stipend of $3000. Plus,
they get
to work experienced research mentors.
Details can be found at the program website:
http://www.ots.duke.edu/en
If you are interested and eligible for the program, you can contact me
directly for more information. Also, please share this information wi=
th
students who may be interested in this type of experience.
Thanks for your help,
Doug Eifler
