Political ecology and community based resource management; environmental and cultural sustainability in the Horn of Africa; Post-colonial African state and society relations and agrarian development; forced migration and refugee studies; critical anthropology of development with a focus on postconflict communities


Current Research

Dissertation research draws on political ecology and the anthropology of place and memory to analyze the long term dynamics of refugee resettlement and state-making in lowlands Eritrea.
